Today is the birthday of one of my favorite Dark Lords, Hayden Christensen. He is 36 years old today. Born on April 19th, 1981. BTW, I was born in 1977, the year Star Wars – A New Hope came out.
I don’t care what people say about his acting in the Star Wars movies. To me, he was great. It was the dialogue that sucked. Just ask Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill as they reiterated during this year’s Star Wars 40 Years Celebration in Orlando.
No matter what Hayden does in his career, he will always be Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader to me. I just realized today, that he starred in “Takers” and “Jumper”. I watched those movies. Like, I was into them, and I didn’t even dawn on me that, “Hey, that’s Hayden Christensen!” Doh!
I found a quote by him on his IMDB page, and I really liked it.
“It’s such a struggle to protect your integrity and dignity in this industry … they really want to attack your morality and your beliefs. They need you to give up a certain part of yourself before they’ll initiate you into ‘stardom’ … I’ve always been kind of a hermit. I find my joy in the little things they want to take away from me. Prior to all this, I took pleasure from being the observer. Now I’m the observed.” — Hayden Christensen
I relate because I am pretty much a hermit myself, and I am also the observer. Luckily, unlike him, I have not become the observed.
So, Happy Birthday Hayden! You sexy motha focka!
And, May The Force Serve You Always!
